New Releases for 12/15/2014 – 12/21/2014: The Holiday Rush Is Officially Over.

Game releases have these really defined seasons, the main one being the fall release season.  You get much past Thanksgiving though, and that well dries up real fast.  Once the store shelves are already loaded with Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, and whatever other fare the industry has for us, it’s hard to get noticed, so most games opt to wait until that hype has petered off.

That doesn’t leave a lot of room for releases this week.  It’s not completely devoid of notable releases, but the seemingly endless flood of games that is the fall release season is clearly over.  Most notably the gorgeous fighting game, Guilty Gear Xrd Sign will be out for PS3 and PS4.  If you’re a fan of beautiful artwork, insane Japanese hair-metal, or intricate fighting game mechanics, be sure to give this one a go.  Kalimba, a quirky and interesting puzzle platformer will be out on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 this week as well.  In addition, Elite: Dangerous, the long-in-development space exploration and combat game will finally see a full release on the PC.  If you’re looking to buy Elite: Dangerous, be aware that it only seems to be available on the game’s website.

Elite: Dangerous

Rounding out the rest of this week’s releases Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes finally sees it’s release on Steam, and Loadout finally makes it’s way to a console (PS4).  Total War: Wrath of Sparta is out on PC, and Don’t Starve Together goes into early access.

  1. I wish the Guilty Gear games didn’t have such complicated mechanics (far too complicated for me) because they are such gorgeous games that I wish I could actually play proficiently.

  2. I totally agree. That’s a series that I’m content to just watch videos of on YouTube. Let someone else learn all that crap and then just dazzle me. #dazzled

  3. Elite: Dangerous also looks really cool but I think it’s one of those games where it takes like 4 hours to figure out where the throttle button is and you have to like land your ship with a cargo hold filled with cucumbers or whatever; you know like ally sim-ish or whatever.
