This is the week people, THE week. See, I have this sort of event marker. The week that Madden comes out marks the week that the new game season begins. It certainly doesn’t mean that every game will be out next week, but it just gives you that feeling, you know? Madden comes out, then it’s Labor Day, and before you know it the leaves are changing and those beautiful new gems are out for all our favorite platforms.
So…Madden NFL 15 comes out this week for almost everything. Admittedly I haven’t played a Madden game in years, but I don’t remember the Nintendo platform ever being cut out of the loop on that one. At any rate, Madden will be available for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on August 26. The PC isn’t getting the release either though, so Wii U owners need not feel completely terrible, you have company at least.
The second DLC for Dark Souls II, The Crown of the Old Iron King will be available on August 26th for all platforms for which the original game was released (that includes PC, Xbox 360, and PS3). This release marks the second in the Lost Crowns Trilogy.
Metro: Redux will hit the Xbox One, PS4 and PC this week as well. It will include a re-mastered version of Metro: 2033, Metro: Last Light, and all of the season pass content for both games (which adds up to about ten extra hours of single player gameplay). It will also include “Ranger” mode; a favorite of fans of the series. This mode strips out the HUD and applies a more hardcore rule set, giving it some added immersion.
The 3DS will get a couple of relases this week as Azure Striker: Gunvolt and Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright both make their way to the system. Azure Striker: Gunvolt is a particularly interesting game as it includes a redemption code for Mighty Gunvolt; a crossover between Azure Striker: Gunvolt and Mighty No. 9.
Finally, this weeks “WTFISTHISOHITSONVITAITMUSTBESOMEJRPGSHIT” award goes to Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 for the PS Vita. This game is JRPG, but beyond that, I’m completely lost as to what this product is. If you love JRPGS though, you probably already know what this joint is all about, have preordered it, and are dressing up for the midnight launch, so…you know…
