YouTube Channel Update: The Chi-Scroller Plays BattleBlock Theater and Neversoft’s Apocalypse

First up, as you’ve no doubt heard by now, Activision has taken the entire Neversoft team and had them absorbed into Infinity Ward in order to help them crank out Call of Duty games. This followed them having Neversoft crank out Guitar Hero games, and that followed them having Neversoft crank out Tony Hawk games. It’s a not at all surprising turn of events for the team, but given Activision’s track record with just shuttering studios outright we can at least be glad that all of those talented individuals still have jobs.

We wanted to commemorate Neversoft’s history, but we didn’t want to just play Tony Hawk or Guitar Hero, or even Spider-Man or Gun. Instead, we want all the way back to the company’s first original (not cancelled) game, a twin stick-style shooter for the PlayStation called Apocalypse. Check out part 1 of our playthrough here.

It’s not all doom and gloom this week, as we will also be playing the goofy platformer BattleBlock Theater. It only takes about 3 seconds to see that this game was made by the talented folks who brought us Castle Crashers and Alien Hominid, not only in art style but in humor and overall polish. It’s also the current free Game With Gold on Xbox 360, and for our money it’s one of the best free games the service has offered so far. So jump on Live, claim your copy, and while it’s downloading, watch the first part of our video of it!

Oh, and if you want to keep up with these and future series, well then you should probably go ahead and subscribe to our channel so you don’t miss anything!
